Circle K taps new energy management partner in Europe

The retailer is partnering with Sparkion Energy to improve efficiency and better meet the demand for electricity across several markets.

Circle K is advancing its operations in Europe and will evolve its energy management capabilities.

The retailer has selected Sparkion Energy, a Vontier company and part of its EVolve e-mobility portfolio, to provide energy management software for combined battery and EV charging installations. The Sparkion platform has already been installed at several sites and is expected to help it improve its energy resilience and facilitate penetration into the ancillary services market.

“With this partnership, we are taking another step in our ambition to be a part of the solution in the communities we serve by delivering industry-leading charging power to our customers while minimizing our impact on the power grid,” said Maria Estenstad-Friis, Director Charge Point Operator in Circle K.

The Sparkion Power Platform acts as an energy hub and provides real-time load management, demand charge mitigation and orchestration of all energy resources on site.

As one of the largest independent convenience store operators, Circle K is present in Scandinavia, the Baltics, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. Recently, the brand reached new markets after acquiring retail assets from TotalEnergies, which is currently in the rebranding process throughout the continent.
